What is Information Literacy?
Information Literacy at Seabury Hall
Our library program's definition of information literacy:
Information literacy is the ability to maneuver easily throughout the various, ever-changing information systems, in order to be active participants of the global learning community.
Yes, learning how to conduct research is at the top of the library program's priorities. But information literacy means more. It means knowing:
- how to organize one's work, including note-taking and preparing for tests
- how to be secure, safe, and responsible Internet citizens, and
- how to create a positive digital footprint: including (1) curation and (2) content creation
